Branden has been playing music since he learned how to play the piano at age 5. A multi-instrumentalist, Branden plays Guitar, Bass, Saxophone, Trombone, Mandolin, Piano, Percussion & Drums, Keyboards, Mountain Dulcimer, and aspires to be able to play any instrument that can be used to produce a melody or rhythm.
Branden has been writing his own music for over 15 years. Bands he has has been a part of include: Chickon Spox, 14,000 Sheep, The Genuine Synthetics, Harold's Angels, Elijah Skyrocket, Trippers & Askers, Ramshackle Jones, The Fat Hooligans, Kenward Derby, and Ferguson. Recently, he has also had the privilege of playing Saxophone with The Bill Clements Group, and has been making experimental electronica music with his side project The The Schuzch
This "solo" project - BrandenMann & The Congregation - draws influence from old time country music, bluegrass, alt-country, 50s & 60s pop music, r&b, and hip-hop. His lyricism spans the spectrum as well, from irreverent tales of his experiences with religion, to philisophical debates & questions, to heartfelt introspective searching. Musically, his songwriting and delivery have been compared to My Morning Jacket, Drive By Truckers, Pearl Jam, Kings Of Leon, Beck, Band of Horses, The Talking Heads, Hank III, Mason Jennings and The Black Keys - which is pretty great since those are some of his favorite musical acts.
Over the years, Branden has had the opportunity to open for and play with many national and regional touring acts including: Michael Knott, Miranda Stone, FurtherMore, Starflyer59, Havalina Rail Co., Joy Electric, The Blamed, and Red White & Booze. Locally, he has also shared shows with Matt Lund & The Undercats, Food Pusherz, Fishlips, Phil Forsyth & The Lone Gun Society, The Honour Recital, Flatbed (aka Rumble Strip), Lucid, Antigone, The Mannequins, and OhioPlastics.
A live show may consist of just Branden with his guitar, with his own band, or with random musicians who just want to "jam" (although he is reluctant to use that word). But regardless of the setup, he'll rustle up some hand-clappin', foot-stompin music that everyone can participate in!
